A Coat the Color of Honey
The day we picked him up at SFO, he has been forever happy. The breeder said he was her child’s favorite — and he became my child’s favorite the moment he stepped into our home. Some cats take weeks to settle in. Patrik settled in before we left the airport.
His coat is the rarest part of him. A chinchilla golden with that warm honeyed undercoat that catches the light like sunbeams through stained glass. I have yet to see another cat with his color. Photos can’t quite capture it — it has to be seen in person to be believed.
And here is what makes him truly special: he insists on sitting in your lap, no matter what you are doing. Try to put him down? He jumps right back. He will follow you across the house just to be near you. A regal Persian sire with the soul of a devoted lap-cat.

The plaques marked with ✦ reveal a secret hidden in his blood: Oddie Charmant Angel and Eucker’s Serengeti of Sunnyday appear twice in his lineage — because his sire’s mother (Babetta) and his own mother (Dolcezza) are full sisters, both daughters of that same Charmant Angel × Sunnyday pairing.
This is not an accident. It is line-breeding — the deliberate, careful choice of a master breeder. Maja paired Brad Pitt with Dolcezza precisely because their shared grandparents would be doubled in their kittens. Patrik carries a concentrated draught of the chinchilla golden type that took two decades to perfect. This is why his coat looks the way it does.

Behind every chinchilla golden Persian alive today are decades of work by a small, devoted set of catteries — quiet houses scattered across Slovakia, France, Sweden, and the United States, each one stewarding a piece of the breed’s elegance forward. Patrik carries cats from six of the most celebrated. Sixty-five named ancestors across his deeper pedigree — every one of them a careful choice by a careful breeder.
Eucker
Through nine generations of the Eucker prefix flows the spine of his pedigree. GIC Eucker’s Celestial Amulet, a Grand International Champion. Eucker’s Serengeti of Sunnyday, his maternal granddam herself. Eucker’s Midnight Tango of Charmant Angel, his great-granddam. This is the house Maja returned to again and again — and Patrik is the answer to every return.
Charmant Angel
From Slovakia, the Charmant Angel cattery sired the Slovak chinchilla and shaded golden lines. ★ Aldo Charmant Angel, a Slovak Champion, is his maternal great-grandsire. Oddie Charmant Angel is his maternal grandsire — and appears twice in his lineage. The Slovak shaded golden tradition lives in his coat — and in his composure.
Elchakcharan
Ten Elchakcharan cats are written into his blood — the most decorated of all the houses in his pedigree. CH/FIFe CH Elchakcharan’s Jacky Chan of Eucker, twice a champion in two associations, is his great-grandsire. CH Elchakcharan’s Miss Divine of Eucker, his great-granddam. The Elchakcharans are the architects of his bones and his beauty.
Castlegate
Eleven Castlegate cats run through his deeper pedigree — the silver Persian house whose elegance still echoes generations later. She didn’t know then that one of her honey-coated boys would cross the Atlantic to become a beloved king in Northern California. But she raised him as if she did. He was given his name in her home, his manners at her hand, his unhurried way of trusting people from her own quiet care.
